Raex 400 Tube circular Raex 400 Tube is simply the hardest coldformed steel tube in the world. In fact, it is nearly three times as hard as regular S355. Its martensitic, homogenous microstructure throughout the tube wall guarantees a long lifetime in abrasive materials pumping applications. Raex 400 Tube is designed for the costefficient transport of wet concrete and other semifluid liquids and wear materials. It can significantly improve the performance of the pumping or dredging equipment and extend its service life beyond the normal standards. Typical applications for Raex 400 Tube: • Pumping systems for wet concrete • Transportation and handling of semifluids • Transportation and handling of sand and other abrasive materials • Dredging equipment • Wearing parts of mining machinery, for example rollers for conveyers • Wearing parts for handling machinery for timber and timber materials

1) All external dimensions including outofroundness are measured at a distance from the end of the steel tube of not less than D for circular sections. The
distance must be a minimum of 100 mm.
Bead scarfing of inner burrs can be carried out when agreed upon separately.
Properties Raex 400 steel tube is a durable highstrength structural material. The average hardness is almost three times as high as that of S355 tubular steel. High hardness and tensile strength give the pipe high resistance to abrasion in abrasive 2

environments and under high surface pressure. The resistance against abrasive wear considerably decreases the wear of material surfaces and structures. Despite its high hardness and strength, the steel tube is easy to process and weld. A HF welded t is narrow, which is favourable for the uniform quality of the steel tube. Thanks to accurately localised heat input during HF welding, the softening of the weld typically occurring in hardened steel is limited to a narrow zone.

Aluminium (Al) and/or titanium (Ti) and/or boron (B) are used for binding nitrogen (N) and controlling grain size. IN addition, chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo) can be used as alloys.
Carbon equivalent value The typical carbon equivalent value (CEV) is 0.50. CEV = C + Mn / 6 + (Cr + Mo + V) / 5 + (Ni + Cu) / 15.
Processing instructions Welding Raex steel tube has the same welding instructions as Raex 400 steel grade. The weldability of Raex 400 Tube is good and it can be welded using all common welding techniques. However butt welds are not recommended to use in ing tubes together due to risk of losing some of the hardness in the HAZ. It is recommended to weld with as low heat input as possible, with either matching or undermatching consumables, depending on the application and location of the weld.
Prefabrication services Ruukki offers versatile prefabrication services for e.g high strength Raex Tubes, including sawing, laser cutting and different surface treatments. By utilizing these services the needs for own investments is reduced and customers can focus on their own core competences. Read more about Ruukki’s prefabrication services
