Musica celta definición: Música celta es el término utilizado para describir un amplio grupo de géneros musicales que parten de la tradición musical popular de los pueblos considerados de tradición celta de Europa Occidental. Como tal, no existe un cuerpo musical real que pueda ser descrito como celta, pero el término sirve para unificar tanto músicas estrictamente tradicionales de determinadas regiones geográficas, como un tipo de música contemporánea de raíz folclórica con un mismo origen etnológico y musical. La seis naciones celtas[editar] Los territorios en los que han sobrevivido las lenguas celtas hasta la edad moderna son: Bretaña (Breizh), Cornualles (Kernow), Gales (Cymru), Escocia (Alba), Irland a (Éire) y la Isla de Man (Mannin o Ellan Vannin),378 Antes de la expansión de la Antigua Roma una significativa parte del occidente europeo se hallaba dominado por los celtas, que dejaron tras de sí un legado.9 Los restos arqueológicos1011 así como la tradición cultural y musical de la zona noroeste de la península ibérica, en los territorios que los romanos denominaban Gallaecia, indican la presencia de la cultura celta12 aunque no se haya conservado en ellos el idioma En Gales el idioma galés (autoglotónimo Cymraeg) es una lengua curricular obligatoria que debe ser estudiada por todos los alumnos.20 Un 20% de la población escolar de Gales asiste además a las Addysg Gyfrwng Cymraeg o Welsh medium education, en las que la enseñanza se realiza íntegramente en galés.21 En la República de Irlanda, todos los alumnos estudian irish como una de las materias troncales de la educación primaria y secundaria y un 7.4% de los alumnos de primaria recibe su educación íntegramente en irlandés, como parte del sistema educativo gaelscoil.21 Las regiones del noroeste de la península Ibérica: Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias y el norte de Portugal también reivindican su herencia celta, patente por los abundantes restos arqueológicos que evidencian conexiones culturales con los pueblos celtas de las islas británicas (véase cultura castreña).12 Músicos gallegos y asturianos han participado en festivales de música celta, como el bretón Festival Interceltico de Lorient, que en el año 2013 celebró el «Año de Asturias»14 o el Festival internacional del mundo celta de Ortigueira, que se celebra en la villa de Ortigueira desde el año 1978 y es Fiesta de interés turistico internacional desde abril de 2005.22 En el norte de Portugal, en las regiones de Minho, Tras os Montes y Douro Litoral se conservan tradiciones muy similares a las de Galicia, sin embargo el idioma celta galaico desapareció de los antiguos territorios de Gallaecia en la Alta Edad Media. El galés patagónico se habla en la provincia argentina de Chubut adonde llegó por medio de la colonización galesa en Argentina (Y Wladfa). El número de hablantes de este idioma se estima entre los 150033 y los 5000.34 Los instrumentos básicos usualmente empleados en la composición e interpretación de música celta son: 

Though the Scottish Great Highland bagpipes are the best known in the Anglophone world, bagpipes have been played for a millennium or more throughout large parts of Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia, including Turkey, the Caucasus, and around the Persian Gulf.

Air supply[edit] The most common method of supplying air to the bag is through blowing into a blowpipe or blowstick. In some pipes the player must cover the tip of the blowpipe with their tongue while inhaling, but most blowpipes have a non-return valve that eliminates this need. In recent times, there are many instruments that assist in creating a clean air flow to the pipes and assist the collection of condensation. 

The bag is an airtight reservoir that holds air and regulates its flow via arm pressure, allowing the player to maintain continuous even sound. The player keeps the bag inflated by blowing air into it through a blowpipe or pumping air into it with a bellows. Materials used for bags vary widely, but the most common are the skins of local animals such as goats, dogs, sheep, and cows. More recently, bags made of synthetic materials including Gore-Tex have become much more common. A drawback of the synthetic bag is the potential for fungal spores to colonise the bag because of a reduction in necessary cleaning, with the associated danger of lung infection.[1] An advantage of a synthetic bag is that it has a zip which allows the to fit a more effective moisture trap to the inside of the bag.



Bags cut from larger materials are usually saddle-stitched with an extra strip folded over the seam and stitched (for skin bags) or glued (for synthetic bags) to reduce leaks. Holes are then cut to accommodate the stocks. In the case of bags made from largely intact animal skins, the stocks are typically tied into the points where limbs and the head ed the body of the whole animal, a construction technique common in Central Europe.



The chanter is the melody pipe, played with two hands. Almost all bagpipes have at least one chanter; some pipes have two chanters, particularly those in North Africa, the Balkans in Southern Europe, and Southwest Asia. A chanter can be bored internally so that the inside walls are parallel (or "cylindrical") for its full length, or it can be bored in a conical shape.



The chanter is usually open-ended, so there is no easy way for the player to stop the pipe from sounding. Thus most bagpipes share a constant, legato sound where there are no rests in the music. Primarily because of this inability to stop playing, technical movements are used to break up notes and to create the illusion of articulation and accents. Because of their importance, these embellishments (or "ornaments") are often highly technical systems specific to each bagpipe, and take many years of study to master. A few bagpipes (such as the musette de cour, the uilleann pipes, the Northumbrian smallpipe, the piva and the left chanter of the surdulina) have closed ends or stop the end on the player's leg, so that when the player "closes" (covers all the holes) the chanter becomes silent.



A practice chanter is a chanter without bag or drones, allowing a player to practice the instrument quietly and with no variables other than playing the chanter.



The term chanter is derived from the Latin cantare, or "to sing", much like the modern French word chanteur.



Most bagpipes have at least one drone: a pipe which is generally not fingered but rather produces a constant harmonizing note throughout play (usually the tonic note of the chanter). Exceptions are generally those pipes which have a double-chanter instead. A drone is most commonly a cylindrically-bored tube with a single reed, although drones with double reeds exist. The drone is generally designed in two or more parts with a sliding t so that the pitch of the drone can be adjusted.



Depending on the type of pipes, the drones may lie over the shoulder, across the arm opposite the bag, or may run parallel to the chanter. Some drones have a tuning screw, which effectively alters the length of the drone by opening a hole, allowing the drone to be tuned to two or more distinct pitches. The tuning screw may also shut off the drone altogether. In most types of pipes, where there is one

drone it is pitched two octaves below the tonic of the chanter. Additional drones often add the octave below and then a drone consonant with the fifth of the chanter.  



Construction: A set of bagpipes minimally consists of an air supply, a bag, a chanter, and usually at least one drone. Many bagpipes have more than one drone (and, sometimes, more than one chanter) in various combinations, held in place in stocks— sockets that fasten the various pipes to the bag. el violín, A fiddle is a bowed string musical instrument, most often a violin.[1] It is a colloquial term for the violin, used by players in all genres including classical music. Fiddle playing, or fiddling, refers to various styles of music. Although violins and fiddles are essentially synonymous, more primitively constructed and smaller violins are more likely to be called fiddles. Due to the style of the music played, fiddles may optionally be set up with a bridge with a flatter arch to reduce the range of bowarm motion needed for techniques such as the double shuffle, a form of bariolage involving rapid alternation between pairs of adjacent strings.[3] In order to produce a "brighter" tone, compared to the deeper tones of gut or synthetic core strings, fiddlers often prefer to use steel strings on their instruments. Among musical styles, fiddling tends to produce rhythms focused on dancing, with associated quick note changes, whereas classical music tends to contain more vibrato and sustained notes. Fiddling is also open to improvisation and embellishment with ornamentation at the player's discretion, in contrast to orchestral performances which must adhere to the composer's notes to reproduce a work faithfully. It is less common for a classically trained violinist to play folk music, but today, many fiddlers (e.g. Alison Krauss[4]) have classical training.  

 





Bodrhan for one hand to be placed against the inside of the drum head to control the pitch and timbre. One or two crossbars, sometimes removable, may be inside the frame, but this is increasingly rare on modern instruments. Some professional modern bodhráns integrate mechanical tuning systems similar to those used on drums found in drum kits. It is usually with a hex key that the bodhrán skins are tightened or loosened depending on the atmospheric conditions. History[edit] According to musician Ronan Nolan, former editor of Irish Music magazine, the bodhrán evolved in the mid-19th century from the tambourine, which can be heard on some Irish music recordings dating back to the 1920s and viewed in a preFamine painting. However, in remote parts of the south-west, the "poor man's tambourine" – made from farm implements and without the cymbals – was in popular use among mummers, or wren boys. A large oil painting on canvas by Daniel Maclise (1806–1870) depicts a large Halloween house party in which a bodhrán features clearly.[2] That painting, produced c. 1842, shows a flautist accompanied by a tambourine player who, in an Arabic style in contrast to standard bodhrán technique, used his fingers rather than a tipper. It is known that by the early 20th century, home-made frame drums were constructed using willow branches as frames, leather as drumheads, and pennies as jingles. In photographs from the 1940s and videos from the 1950s, jingles remained part of the bodhrán construction like a tambourine, yet were played with cipín, also known in English as "tipper".[3] Seán Ó Riada declared the bodhrán to be the native drum of the Celts as did Paraic McNeela (The Bodhrán Maker) possibly used originally for winnowing or the dying of wool, with a musical history that predated Christianity,[4] native to southwest Ireland.[5] Name[edit]

The Irish word bodhrán (pronounced [ˈbˠəuɾˠaːn̪ˠ], plural bodhráin), indicating a drum, is first mentioned in a translated English document in the 17th century.[2] It appears in Jacob Pool's list of words from the Baronies of Forth and Bargy in county Wexford (collected in the late 18th century), meaning "A drum, tambourine...also a sieve used in winnowing corn".[6] Third-generation bodhrán maker Caramel Tobin suggests that the name bodhrán means "skin tray". He also suggests a link with the Irish word bodhar, meaning, among other things, a drum or a dull sound (it also means deaf).[2][7] A relatively new introduction to Irish music, the bodhrán has largely replaced the role of the tambourine. Possible antecedents[edit] The bodhrán is one of the most basic of drums and as such it is similar to the frame drums distributed widely across northern Africa from the Middle East, and has cognates in instruments used for Arabic music and the musical traditions of the Mediterranean region (see Music of North Africa, Music of Greece etc.).[8] A larger form is found in the Iranian daf, which is played with the fingers in an upright position, without a stick. Traditional skin drums made by some Native Americans are very close in design to the bodhrán as well.[7]

The bombard is a woodwind instrument, and a member of the shawm family. Like most shawms, it has a broad and very powerful sound, vaguely resembling a trumpet. It is played as other shawms are played, with the double reed placed between the lips. The second octave is 'over-blown'; achieved via increased lip and air pressure or through the use of an octave key. It plays a diatonic scale of up to two octaves, although contemporary instruments frequently have added keywork permitting some degree of chromaticism. The hurdy-gurdy is a stringed instrument that produces sound by a hand crankturned, rosined wheel rubbing against the strings. The wheel functions much like a violin bow, and single notes played on the instrument sound similar to those of a violin. Melodies are played on a keyboard that presses tangents—small wedges, typically made of wood—against one or more of the strings to change their pitch. Like most other acoustic stringed instruments, it has a sound board and hollow cavity to make the vibration of the strings audible.



Most hurdy-gurdies have multiple drone strings, which give a constant pitch accompaniment to the melody, resulting in a sound similar to that of bagpipes. For this reason, the hurdy-gurdy is often used interchangeably or along with bagpipes, particularly in Occitan, Catalan, Cajun French and contemporary Asturian, Cantabric, Galician, and Hungarian folk music.

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre música celta y la música medieval?

Con Celta o Céltico mas que aun lugar específico se refiere a cierta etnia que habito distintos lugares de la Europa occidental anterior a la conquista romana y las invasiones germánicas. Este pueblo aportó con instrumentos propios a la cultura musical de Europa convirtiéndose en parte del patrimonio musical de muchas naciones de ese continente (Irlanda, Escocia, El noroeste de Francia y el noroeste de España por mencionar los puntos mas importantes) La música medieval en cambio y como lo señala Hunter ʑҳ arriba es parte de un periodo cronológico que reune muchas tradiciones musicales anteriores fusionadas. Desde la música greco-romana, a la germánica, la celta de la que nos referimos, la árabe, bizantina etc etc) Todos estos pueblo conformaron el amplio espectro de lo que se hizo musicalmente en la edad media. Ahora lo que conocemos como música celta tiene un carácter mas folclórico ya que este pueblo no dejó registros escritos ni notación de su música ( los primeros que se conocen son parte de la edad media donde ya existía cierta fusión con otras culturas así que no es netamente ''puro'') todo se trasmitió de manera informal por eso el cruce de tradiciones Y la música celta también pertenece en parte a lo medieval, ya que mucha de ella

tiene su origen en este periodo. Por ejemplo el trovador gallego Martin Codax quien vivió en el siglo XIII y claramente su música tiene raíz céltica. Para resumir la música céltica es parte de la tradición de un pueblo especifico. Y la música medieval lo es de un periodo de tiempo donde se reune, y algunas veces fusiona, tradiciones musicales de muchos pueblos europeos y mediterráneos. The soundboard is a teardrop-shaped thin flat plate of resonant wood (typically spruce). In all lutes the soundboard has a single (sometimes triple) decorated sound hole under the strings called the rose. The sound hole is not open, but rather covered with a grille in the form of an intertwining vine or a decorative knot, carved directly out of the wood of the soundboard. The geometry of the lute soundboard is relatively complex, involving a system of barring that places braces perpendicular to the strings at specific lengths along the overall length of the belly, the ends of which are angled to abut the ribs on either side for structural reasons.
