The virus; it came and infected the people,

What if it wasn’t what the news portrays?

Maybe it’s a biological weapon,

Corrupt media paid off in some way.

Did it really originate in China?

It’s left the world aghast,

The infected are now numbers not people,

Not to mention those who’ve ed.

Where will this virus stop?

Is it to reduce global warming?

Did it come down from the Gods above?

Or surge from the caves of hell as a warning?

Free At Last

“That” chapter is over, it’s in the past.

So what’s next, how long will this last?

I can now breathe easy, sleep well in my bed.

Now those demons are silenced, those thriving in my head.

They haven’t been fully vanquished, no doubt you can tell.

Although there’s nothing hanging over me, my brain is still hell.

What can I do to thwart these foes? Do I go anyway?

What’s stopping me? What’s making me stay?

Well you see my friends, a lot has changed since then;

I have a wonderful partner, my life begun again.

A reboot of my reality, a change to my circumstance.

A reason to carry on, my heart awash with dance.

“That” chapter is over, it’s in the past.

So what’s next, how long will this last?

I can now breathe easy, sleep well in my bed.

Now to decimate those demons, those thriving in my head.

A Past Love

Recovery

It is blustery, it is cold,

The skin-deep feelings are out of this world; I am stuck.

I am at the bottom of a wine bottle, swimming in the dregs,

I try to get out but I just flail my legs. “This is it”. I float there for a while, stunned into motionless thought,

I am trapped,

I am caught.

A clever human being decides that my existence deserves to prosper,

She tips me out onto her palm and there I sit exhausted. “My head hurts” She strokes me a while and I push into her finger,

I like the feel, I like the touch so a little while I linger,

My wings are redundant, I try to flutter but I cannot muster enough strength to lift me away.

I try to stagger but I just swagger and for now I stay and wait.

My wings, they’ve dried out and my head hurts no more,

I try to flutter and cause a motion, I must be cured for sure. “I am free” I patter to the edge of her fingers, as she looks down and whispers: “You be safe now little one”

This is it… I beat my wings down, take flight off the palm, leaving all of my troubles behind.

Homesick

When you look around and the world doesn’t seem the same anymore,

When you turn to your friends but your friends won’t turn to you no-more,

When you are living, pretending to be someone else,

When you’re alienated for being different,

You are homesick for a place that doesn’t exist.

When the darkness seems brighter than the light,

When you turn to it instead of putting up that fight,

When you become enshrouded leaving the world behind

When you pause before making that big move,

You are homesick for a friend that doesn’t exist.

When the morrow brings nothing but sorrow,

When being asleep brings nothing but dread,

When all the laughter has been replaced by crying

When you think you would be better off dead

You are homesick for a day that doesn’t exist.

When you find that one person that cares all the time,

When you are with that one person who makes you smile,

When you lose yourself in that one moment alone,

When you don’t care about the problems anymore,

You are homesick for nothing because everything exists

You may think you’re supremo but I just think you’re a dickhole. You’ve been there so long that you’ve grown mould and you can’t abide those that don’t blow yo.

I think you need to get your head out yo ass, because I would trade one nut for your life to , and although you have given me a chance, I’m bored of doing this shitty repetitive dance.

Someday you will meet karma, and entity who will be down on ya, your manner is just on the level of lava, below ground and open mouthed.

You look like a 12year old with a receding hairline but that’s fine because you are “above” us, is that lime? Nah, let’s be real, I can’t be bothered to deal with those who just do the time but don’t commit no crime. Those who just stay in one place and make me feel like I’m the disgrace.

I’d like to see you do the jobs of others, maybe in a job where you have to be brothers in arms but no, you sit in your ivory tower with your tongue buried up the boss’s ass so it can’t get any farther.

Mr know it all, Mr “I am better than you” but guess what, you can still fall and still be in the same doo doo. Someday you will see that my predecessors were right and maybe someday you will be free.

“I’m Fine”

When you have to say you’re fine but you’re dying inside

When you have to say you’re fine but you’re walking a thin line

When you’re hurting like hell but you have to hide in your shell for fear of biting and being called “mental”

It’s times like these where I want to step back

It’s times like these where my brain says “attack”

It’s times like these that get me in trouble and all because my world has the integrity of a bubble

I want to stop feeling everything and then nothing, and just want to be normal. Alas though, just like you, I am a mere mortal

Doorstep Soul

Many long weekends together ended with me Driving away, And leaving you on your doorstep.

As my soul moves further from yours, Being pulled, It hurts, and I miss you.

I would bask for days in the light of your presence, For I know it won’t be long Until you go, and don’t come back again, And everything will feel wrong.

Your future is pipedreams and sorrow. Your present; too bleak to understand. Your past is stealing your tomorrow.

But all of that is about to end.

And when you go, I’ll sing for you, I’ll lock you in my heart. We grew so close, and it will hurt For us to be apart.

So, I’ll sit on your doorstep, where I used to leave you. Why did nobody else believe you? So many questions, no-one knows why. Why you had to go, why you wanted to die. Just me. I know. I always have, I always did. And so, a farewell to my best friend I must bid. I’ll keep sitting on your doorstep, thinking of you waving goodbye to me, As I leave you alone, sitting on your doorstep, as I drive away.

Don’t Go

“Don’t go.” A whisper in the dark. Two words that strike you in your chest as the sun sets outside. Emboldening you, and grounding you. Cementing your arm around them.

“Don’t go.” The world is quiet, So quiet, you may have imagined that pained request that was so softly spoken. But you didn’t, and the words that were barely a whisper emanate, radiate, ebbing and flowing and dancing in the dark, becoming deafening.

“Don’t go.” You respond not with words, but with a stronger hold on them. You say “I won’t” with the tears forming in your eyes and your rising heartbeat, a shuffle closer, and a sad sigh. A squeeze.

You wish that your reply works harder, goes deeper, makes a change, but you are met with contented silence. “Maybe it was enough?” you wonder, as their breathing becomes heavier, as their shoulders relax and the tension starts to release. It never fully goes though… And you wish it would. You throw out love, but inside you curse all the others who hurt the person in your arms. You silently beg for the chance to go back in time and take the hurt away, but you can’t. You just hold on tighter. “Don’t go.” A whisper in the dark, “I promise I won’t” you say with everything but your voice and hope that one day they will believe your reply.

Monotony

Five on two off, the modern world for humanity,

Fifty two weeks for the foreseeable future,

A toxic expanding monotony.

Paying money out as soon as it shows availability,

Give it back, this is slavery!

A toxic reaping monotony.

Why can’t I be born again, like restarting a video game?

Choosing how you start out,

So the monotony will be at bay.

Drip No More

One bad day too many

You don’t get it, having no energy

I climb the stairs to the rooms above

To find what sorts this scenario, it fits like a glove

It begins the same,

This voice in my head, driving me insane

Out comes the blade, up against my skin

Drip, drip, drip, drip, dripping in the sink

Bandage up, hide it away

I’m okay now, with internal shame

Cleaned up the blade, back in its place

A fake smile back upon my face

One bad day too many

You don’t get it, having no energy

I climbed the stairs to the clouds above

That blade did sort that scenario and does fit like a glove

My eyes closed slowly, the blood ran like ink

It gathered in lines, down the porcelain sink

I’m done with having no energy that’s for sure

It’s fine because soon I’m going to drip no more

RIP Chester

You got me through some really hard times,

Your lyrics spoke to me and I really felt your rhymes

I note our lives have been quite similar

How odd is that, don’t you find that peculiar?

We were both abused at age 7

I’m now here, you’re up in “heaven”

You wrote poetry to keep your mind at bay

I’m writing it now, what can I say?

Both our parents have split up

That was the best thing for us, didn’t that make you pumped?

We’ve both felt the urge to run away and kill people

Who knew this would be our prequel?

I miss you Chester, goodbye my friend,

It sucks that you jumped and left us in the end

Nearing The End

So there we are ladies and gents,

This book is nearing its end,

Three poems left to expel,

I’m sure you think I’ve gone “‘round the bend”.

You see my dear people,

Not all of us can be happy,

Life ain’t all fun and games,

Not all of us can be successful and rolling in fame.

My life is mediocre,

A shit-show to some

I’m trying to pick myself up off the floor

But life is a loaded gun

Hide The Truth

Play dumb,

Look but don’t see,

I’m numb,

Blind to the reality.

Cut funding,

Then carry on,

Questioning people’s endings,

Too late, they’re gone.

Global pandemic,

Coronavirus,

Millions lost their luck,

Not from Covid-19 saying “why us?”

Cancer,

Suicide,

Murders by gangsters,

Some of these kill far more than coronavirus.

People dangling,

People swinging from a noose,

Outbreak of coronavirus,

Politicians hiding the truth.

Without You

There are a few of you now that I miss everyday

Your voices still ringing true

You knew the right words to say

I now have to exist without you.

Your hearts were in the right place

Your brains were trying to break free

Your mouths forming the situations we all face

These all rang true to me

I hope you guys have all now found peace

While we all have to continue on

You no longer have to struggle with mortality

Your words continue forever strong

27 Club

Alas we come to the last poem of the book,

I’m glad you managed to get this far,

I hope you managed to glean some enjoyment

Although the topics were quite hard

This is where it gets serious again,

After all, this is the 27club

I hope you’ve all got a pen

Note this down on your recycled shrub

People will sometimes while away

They will hide from the outside world

It’s time to ask them if they’re okay

Before more darkness unfurls

You don’t need to feel a burden

You need to be there for your friends

Inside them a darkness may be lurking

Something to bring their life to an end

There are those that died at 27

And a mysterious club was formed

Those people are now riding the clouds of heaven

Our lives without them normed
